CSS 2nd Listening Party

2nd CSS Listening Party happened on the 28 Nov 2015 – a platform for members to share their music and build stronger friendship. For this edition, we wanted to stay open, and extended our invitation to include friends of our members as well as potential members.

It was a delightful evening meeting up with like minded composers and new friends.

Joyce opened the evening with a welcome greeting, followed by a short presentation on the society’s aims, purpose in the local community and partnership in the international arena. We also announced our forthcoming project ‘Forum for Young Composers 2016’. Beside sharing their experiences at the Asian Composers’ League Festival in Philippines, John, Robert, Alicia and Bernard encouraged the young composers to think about participating in the next ACL Festival ‘Young Composers’ Prize’ category which will be happening in Vietnam next year.

Over sandwiches from Swiss bakery, tea and coffee, we listened to Jimmy Sun Zhongda’s music for film, ‘Disappearing Bottle’, Kong Meng’s ‘The Breath of Life’ for chamber ensemble and Alicia’s ‘In Our last’ for soprano, piano and flute.

By the end of the evening, we had Italian panettone to celebrate newly formed friendships.
