Membership Benefits
​
As a CSS member, you will be able to:

Receive opportunities to be featured on various CSS platforms through initiatives such as Composer of the Month, our Score Follower series, and other initiatives

Gain access to activities organized by the Asian Composers League, including call for scores and papers for ACL festivals and conferences, performance and professional development opportunities, and the ability to connect with composers across the region

Receive a chance to be invited to speak at CSS workshops and events such as the Singapore Composers Festival, or be eligible to apply to participate in initiatives such as Composing Monumentality and other composition or research projects

Be eligible to participate in calls to be featured on CSS concerts and events such as the Singapore Composers Festival

Get a chance to participate in exchange programmes with composer organisations of other countries and build up one's international network and presence

Receive CSS support and funding application advantage in organising composition-related projects and initiatives

Gain opportunities to meet other composers, musicians, arts administrators, and artists from other fields, and build up one's professional network

Receive discounts on CSS events and take advantage of free or discounted tickets offered to CSS members by other organizations

Receive latest news on compositional opportunities, upcoming workshops, and performances by other CSS members, and also be looped into news and updates within the local New Music scene through our mailing list

Student members will be eligible to apply for mentorship programmes such as the Young Composers Forum and other initiatives for emerging composers
Please note that Associate Members may not participate in any calls for scores of compositions but may participate in research projects, calls for papers, conferences, or be invited as speakers.

Membership Structure
i) Member ($60/year, 3-year package $150, lifetime membership with a donation of $1500 and above)

For professional practising composers only

Must be citizen/PR or based in Singapore with a valid work permit or long-term visa (please refer to this page https://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits)

Must provide bio/CV

Holds a degree/diploma in composition or related field (e.g. film composition, sound design, mixed media, improvisation, sound engineering, computer music)

Submit copy of degree/diploma

Alternatively, in the absence of any of the abovementioned degrees or diplomas, can provide proof of professional work in composition/improvisation/sound design/sound engineering/computer music (e.g. concert booklets or other publicity material for public ticketed concerts, commercials, film samples, publications or recordings by registered companies/institutions)

ii) Student Member ($30/year, 3-year package $75, lifetime membership with a donation of $1500 and above)

Submit copy of ID, student pass, or visa

Currently majoring in composition or related field in an official institution (require proof of attendance e.g. copy of valid student ID) OR private study with a composition teacher (need to submit referral letter - teacher may or may not be a member of CSS, but must be recognised within the local scene as a professional practising composer)

Student members will be placed under full or associate membership upon graduation based on assessment by CSS.

iii) Associate Member ($30/year, 3-year package $75, lifetime membership $1500 with a donation of $1500 and above)

Must be citizen/PR or based in Singapore with a valid student pass or visa (please refer to this page https://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits)

Submit copy of ID, work permit, student pass, or visa

Includes professional musicians in other fields (e.g. performance, conducting, musicology, theory, music education), or

Artists in other fields (e.g. theatre, dance, literature), or

Arts administrators, or
-
Students who do not major in composition or related field in an official institution. E.g. general MEP students or performers. They may convert their membership to <Student member> or <Member> when they meet the requirements i.e. change to composition study/major or venture into composition

As this category of membership is recognised as being for non-composers, associate members will be ineligible for participation in calls for scores (e.g. ACL)

iv) Patron Member (lifetime membership with a donation of $1500 and above)​

Currently by invitation only

Must be a Singapore citizen/PR or based in Singapore with a long-term visa
-
Includes individuals who have made significant contributions to the Singapore arts scene
-
Patron members will enjoy free admission to all CSS events
-
Existing CSS members may be invited to become patron members. They will retain both membership statuses if they choose to become a patron member.

Please note that all membership applications are subjected to approval by the current EXCO. All membership registration is to be done online via our website. Membership payment will only be made upon the approval of your application. The membership period will continue to be based on the calendar year, i.e. from 1 Jan to 31 Dec every year. Membership fees are not pro-rated.
